- partying at festivals
- cycling the trails
- walking the dog
- camping
Use an ETO ETO washbag when:
- going camping and travelling
- wild swimming
- keeping messy stuff in check in the bathroom, classroom or wherever there might be spillage.
What makes etoeto products eco-friendly?
ETO ETO bags and pouches are made from upcycled materials both inside and out.
We don’t break the materials down into little pellets or melt them or mould them or extrude them into new shapes. That process is called recycling. Recycling is great at bringing trashed materials back into use, but it can use a lot of energy (usually from carbon sources) and water. Instead, we upcycle.
Upcycling is the process of using materials with the absolute minimum of reprocessing. Often, just a wash, then cutting and sewing into new products. It saves energy and water by designing new products with the materials as they already are. This typically causes much less pollution than recycling.
What are the bags and pouches made from?
The list of materials has a habit of growing! It’s hard to watch good unrecyclable materials go to landfill. They just need some imagination, a ton of cleaning and sprucing, a designer, upcycler, crafter, and they’ll be as good as – or better than – new.
Here’s the list… for now!
- bicycle inner tubes
- life raft & life jackets
- bouncy castle offcuts (factory waste)
- advertising & event banners
- umbrellas
- tents
- camping chairs
- air mattresses
- packaging waste
- paddling pools & Li-los
- safety belts
- factory offcuts from umbrella canopy manufacturing
How do the waste materials get to ETO ETO for upcycling?
A number of local independent businesses and social value oganisations partner with ETO ETO to divert their waste from going to landfill.
ETO ETO collects the items, disassembles the materials, washes everything thoroughly, cuts them up and sews them on a heavy duty industrial sewing machine.
Who’s behind ETO ETO?
I’m Sylvia. Made in Wales, UK. That’s how ETO ETO gets its name: ”eto” = the Welsh word for “again”. So “ETO ETO” means “again, again”.

There’s is no ”away” to send all our stuff to when we’re done. We have to live with our stuff forever. Either as useful or beautiful things to hold and behold, or re-inventable as new things, or clutter, or worse, pollution. I choose to reinvent the old, broken or forlorn. To give new life to good and strong but sadly dead materials. Keeping them as far away from a landfill and incinerator as possible.
